Achieve the Core provides all Common Core-aligned resources including: "sample lessons with explanations and resources, student writing samples, assessment questions, curricular tools, ready-to-use professional development modules, and strategies and materials to help educators support students at all levels of literacy."
K12 Reader
This site offers TONS of ready-to-use reading skills practice worksheets complete with reading passages (fiction and nonfiction) and questions. Many of these practice passages and question sets would be perfect for when you have a sub. In addition, this site provides reading award certificates, printable reading logs, grammar worksheets, writing prompts for all types of writing, and much more.
National Council of Teachers of English
The NCTE provides tons of resources for English educators and is one of my favorite websites for finding research-based information on English language arts-related topics. "The Secondary Section enhances the professional lives of secondary English language arts educators and the quality of education of their students by providing multiple forums for significant dialogue on historical, current, and emerging topics of interest to secondary English language arts educators."
National Writing Project
Much like the NCTE, the NWP provides high quality research on writing AND reading-related topics. "The NWP is a network of sites anchored at colleges and universities and serving teachers across disciplines and at all levels," and they also "provide professional development, develop resources, generate research, and act on knowledge to improve the teaching of writing and learning in schools and communities."

Grammar Bytes
This website offers presentations, interactive exercises, and handouts for many of the skills that appear on the ACT English test. Skills covered include: comma splices and fused sentences, fragments, irregular verbs, commas, parallel structure, misplaced and dangling modifiers, apostrophes, pronoun agreement, pronoun case, pronoun reference, subject-verb agreement, and word choice.
